Single Gene Disorders

Single gene disorders (Mendelian disorders) are caused by errors in DNA in one particular gene and often have predictable inheritance patterns (recessive, dominant and X linked). Single gene mutation analysis is performed to identify disease-causing variants using PCR amplification followed by Sanger sequencing. These testings are recommended where a patient has presented with specific features of a condition or when there is a family history of the disease condition.
